NYC resident World Cup Lottery closes in 3 minutes on first day after 50,000 entries reached
NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — The NYC resident World Cup ticket lottery opened on Monday, and the 50,000 registration limit was reached in just three minutes.
The lottery gives residents a chance to win $50 tickets to a World Cup match.
1,000 tickets will be split across several matches.
The website reached capacity within a couple of hours on Monday, but another chance to enter the lottery will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
New Yorkers had the opportunity to register to enter a ticket lottery each morning until 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 30.
Winners will be notified on June 3rd.
Residents can enter once online per day.
Winners will also get free round-trip transportation.
