Anthony Daniels Has a Cameo In ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’

With The Mandalorian and Grogu now out in theaters, and reactions pouring over the internet, we’re getting some hidden details in the film as well. StarWars.com has posted a list of some of the best Easter eggs and trivia from the movie, and something in particular jumped out to us.

According to the film’s credits, Anthony Daniels is continuing his streak as the only actor to have appeared in some form in every single Star Wars film. In the new movie, he voices the Air Traffic Control droids who give the new Razor Crest clearance to land on Nal Hutta in the first act of the film, when Mando goes meet the Hutt Twins.

This is the second time Daniels appears in a Star Wars movie as a different character than C-3PO. Previously, he appeared in Solo as a slave in the mines of Kessel named Tak.

At this point, it seems inevitable that Daniels will also participate in next year’s Star Wars: Starfighter. Lucasfilm seems to be very into keeping this tradition going, and, after all, the film will also serve as the 50 anniversary for Anthony Daniels. The actor was recently confirmed as a guest at next year’s Star Wars Celebration, following his long tradition at these conventions.

There are other Easter eggs in the film, which we’ll be writing about later in the week as part of our continuing coverage of the film. For now, with Memorial Day weekend almost over, it seems like the film may have reached the higher end of the box office projections, both internally at Disney and by externally by other tracking services. It will end up the four-day weekend at around $100M. That being said, it will still be the worst opening for a Star Wars film in the Disney era, having just made $82M over the three-day weekend in the US, barely $2M below Solo. Word of mouth seems to be strong, however, and it could push the film to profitability quite rapidly.

Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as movies from Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
