Watch Wemby Get ‘Flopper’ Chants From Thunder Crowd in Trending Video Amid WCF Game 5 vs. Spurs

San Antonio Spurs fans let Shai Gilgeous-Alexander know how they feel about his free-throw drawing antics earlier in the series, and Oklahoma City Thunder fans returned the favor on Tuesday.
As Wembanyama took to the free-throw line in Game 5, fans at Paycom Center chanted “flopper.”
In Game 3 of the series, Spurs fans gave Gilgeous-Alexander a lengthy “flopper” chant while he was at the free-throw line.
The Thunder star said after the game that he isn’t bothered by the chants, saying that it “does nothing” and that he doesn’t “really hear it.”
“I expect that from the opposing team,” Gilgeous-Alexander told reporters. “They’re not going to like me. They shouldn’t. I get it. It is part of the game. They’re doing their part in making the game exciting. Watching sports, playing sports, my whole life — that’s always what it’s been in. Just because it’s me, it’s no different. I expect that from them. I honestly like it. It makes the game more interesting and more fun, more exciting. Whether they’re for or against me.”
Gilgeous-Alexander excels at getting to the free-throw line, averaging the third-most attempts per game (9.0) during the regular season. It’s fair to say that the MVP often exaggerates his movements in order to get calls, but he’s far from the only player in the league to do that.
Wembanyama also got a favorable whistle this year, shooting 7.0 free throws per game.
In the playoffs, Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 9.8 free throws per game, while Wembanyama has shot 6.6 per game.
