What next for Westbank?

Main Street, or Highway 97, in downtown Westbank.
What’s working? What needs improvement and what matters most?
Those are some of the questions the City of West Kelowna hopes to answer with a public survey on the future of the Westbank Urban Centre. Residents are encouraged to visit OurWK.ca/westbankcentre to give their feedback by June 17.
It has been 15 years since the current Westbank Centre Revitalization Plan was adopted. Since 2011, there have been upgrades to Memorial Park, Spring Park, the introduction of the transit exchange and the construction of the new city hall.
The new plan will aim to reinforce Westbank as West Kelowna’s downtown, address transportation and mobility challenges, reflect best practices and market conditions and align with the Official Community Plan.
The next phase of the Westbank Urban Centre plan will focus on new development, improved connections, and a more active, walkable downtown.
City staff and the consulting team are currently undertaking public and stakeholder engagement. A draft of the new plan is expected this summer. The final plan will likely go before West Kelowna city council in the fall.
