Novak Djokovic moved on to the third round with a four-set win over Valentin Royer.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion raced off to a two-set lead in under an hour and a half but struggled with form as the match went on, needing three hours and 47 minutes to prevail.
In the most thrilling matchup of the day, Joao Fonseca overcame a two-set deficit against Dino Prizmic.
The 19-year-old had the crowd on their feet with his booming forehand and unreal shot-making ability.
Fonseca will face Djokovic in the third round in a matchup that promises to excite.
The second round continues tomorrow on TNT, which will broadcast live from Roland-Garros starting at 5 a.m. ET. There will also be whip-around coverage on truTV at the same time, while all courts will stream live on HBO Max.

Match of the Day: Francisco Cerundolo (25) vs. Hugo Gaston
Francisco Cerundolo enters his matchup against Hugo Gaston as the overwhelming favorite.
The 27-year-old Argentine is one of the most formidable players on the red clay and has reached the Round of 16 here in two of his last three appearances.
However, Hugo Gaston is not a player to be taken lightly.
The 25-year-old Frenchman is one of the grittiest players on tour, with his athleticism, net skills, and impressive dropshot.
Seemingly no point is ever over when Gaston is on the other side.
If Gaston can rally around the home crowd on Court Simonne-Mathieu, an upset cannot be ruled out.
Prediction: Hugo Gaston def. No. 25 Francisco Cerundolo in 5 sets
