Jake Matthews vs. Carlston Harris UFC Fight Night 277 preview
Matthews (22-8 MMA, 15-8 UFC) fell short of earning a signature win in his last fight when he was submitted by veteran Neil Magny in the third round last September, which snapped a three-fight winning streak.
Harris hasn’t competed in more than a year, losing by third-round TKO to veteran Santiago Ponzinibbio in January 2025. He’s 2-3 in his past five bouts.
Jake Matthews vs. Carlston Harris UFC Fight Night 277 expert pick, prediction
Filling out the main card is an impromptu welterweight bout between Jake Matthews and Carlston Harris.
Matthews, who was initially slated to face Muslim Salikhov, will now face Harris on short notice.
Harris may be a janky striker, but the native of Guyana is a deceptively dangerous grappler who could bring about some of Matthews’ past demons if he’s not careful. That said, the travel, age and suspect staying power of Harris doesn’t give me enough confidence to take a flier on him here.
The pick is for Matthews to get back on track with a stoppage win in Round 2.
