The Real-Life Diet of Kane Brown, Who Built an Exercise Barn at His House

Are you doing full boxing workouts too, like Rocky, jumping rope and running in a hoodie and all that stuff?
I jump rope every day, 10 minutes non-stop as a warmup, then the box jump. I hit the bag for 10 minutes, the double end bag, and water bag for uppercuts. Then we get in the ring, we go about five to seven rounds, and then we go and hit a weightlifting workout afterwards. I mean, we probably burn about 3,000 calories a day. That’s why I’m eating 4,000. I probably need to eat more! I built kind of a compound, so we have a lot of space. I have a barn up on top of my house, got all my stuff up there.
During your fitness journey, have you tried anything and were immediately like, “Actually, I don’t like this. Let’s find something else?”
Not yet, but they’re trying to get me into Pilates. I’m down to try it. I wouldn’t mind being mic’d, because I know it’s going to hurt me. I’m not an ego person, so it’d be funny to watch it.
Are you into running?
Yeah, I was running a lot whenever I was doing the bodybuilding stuff, just because I was trying to shred off all the fat on me. After that first mile, I can go pretty long. Then I got out of it and then just got into incline walking because like I said, my knees hurting, and running is bad on your knees. But I did a blood test and it said that I was a marathon runner, which I never thought.
You think you’d ever actually run a marathon?
Hell no. The longest I’ve ever ran personally was last year. It was six miles and I just kept trying to beat my time. I kept saying like 8:20, and I got all the way down to like 6:15. Bro, my body was showing me different things that it’s never shown me. Running does crazy things to you.
For you—sleep, hydration, recovery—are there any things that you really swear by, or a supplement that you love?
Definitely creatine. I’ve been really good about my protein. I do Dymatize protein. It’s fire, just tastes so good, and it’s really easy to mix. I feel like for protein shakes, for me, that was the hardest thing. You always got to get the blender out and then you got to wash it, and I do two to three protein shakes a day. So for me, the Dymatize [powder], you can just put it in a cup, stir it with a spoon, and it mixes up just fine.
Hydration, I will say, I have Sonic ice in my house. The Instant Hydration electrolyte packets are what I use. I drink probably eight to 10 of those per day. I go to the bathroom a lot. And then my sauna, love my sauna. It actually helps you in the long run for weightlifting and gaining muscle. Oh yeah, my sleep. So, I have my alarm set to go to sleep. It tells me by 10 o’clock. I was a gamer, but I quit gaming. My mind has changed so much. Knocking out gaming has helped, but also just getting sleep and recovering. I didn’t realize how much recovery you get when you sleep. I try to get, minimum, eight hours a day. I’ve noticed too, if I wake up—say it’s 5:30, 6 A.M., and I close my eyes and go back to sleep—I wake up sluggish. I should just get up then.
