Haex Is A Co-Op Survival Shooter Set In A Nordic Wilderness Overtaken By Aliens

Dead Astronauts, a Sweden-based studio made up of former Epic Games and Massive Entertainment devs, has revealed its first game, Haex, and it’s a co-op survival FPS set in the Nordic Wilderness. Besides surviving the harsh landscape, players will also need to fend off aliens and other mysterious creatures now calling these wilds home. The game is currently in development for PC, but there’s no release date yet.

Revealed during the Summer Game Fest 2026 showcase, you and up to three friends must explore the sub-arctic north to investigate the appearance of a massive and ominous monolith while trying to find where the rest of your expedition crew disappeared to. You’ll do so in first-person using a variety of guns to fend off hulking alien creatures and more, all while managing your temperature, thirst, resources, and more.

Check it out in the Haex reveal trailer below:

As you can see in the trailer, the deeper you go into the mist, the more treacherous your expedition. Players will need to utilize different combat tactics, firearms, melee weapons, and unique gadgets to survive. Plus, you can use alien seeds scattered about to reshape parts of the open world to discover new caches of resources and give your crew an edge.

“With Haex, our ambition is to create an innovative, memorable open-world action adventure survival game that we, as players, would love to play and discover ourselves,” Dead Astronauts co-founder and Haex creative director Tobias Nyman writes in a press release. “We’ve poured a great deal of care, creativity, and hard work into building a universe where players can fundamentally reshape their world and determine their own path forward.”

Here are some additional Haex screenshots:

Dead Astronauts says that progress in Haex carries over between sessions, letting players bring gear and resources obtained in one playgroup into the crew of another. However, characters and worlds are saved separately, so each world maintains its own independent state and storyline.

There’s no word on when Haex will launch, but it’s currently in development on PC for Steam and the Epic Games Store.
