Spyro the Dragon may be making a big comeback, with new leaks hinting at a brand-new game coming in the near future. Spyro has not starred in an entirely new game since 2008 (not counting Skylanders), only appearing in a remake trilogy in 2018.
Spyro stands as one of the most recognizable mascot characters in gaming. The original Spyro the Dragon sold more than 4.8 million copies on the PS1, with the game easily settling into the top 20 best-selling games on the console. Spyro 2 and Year of the Dragon performed similarly well, with more than 3 million copies sold on the console. The franchise continued to produce new games, though it would go largely dormant in favor of Skylanders, only returning for the Spyro Reignited Trilogy in 2018. Now, the beloved purple dragon may be gearing up for a big comeback soon.
