Lake wind advisory in place for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area for Monday – gusts could peak at 35 mph

A lake wind advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 9:22 a.m. valid for Monday, June 8 between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

The NWS Reno NV informs, “Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and waves 1 to 3 feet for Lake Tahoe.”

“Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve,” the NWS said. “Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind.”
