Big Rock returns to Morehead City as Kelli Wagner Lady Angler tournament kicks off weekend action

MOREHEAD CITY, Carteret County — Big Rock week is back in Morehead City, starting with the Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament.
The KWLA Tournament is one of the largest ladies-only fishing events in the world. The tournament raises money and awareness to help in the fight against breast cancer.
Emily Covington took part in this year’s tournament to honor her mother, who is battling breast cancer. Covington caught the second-place dolphin game fish during the tournament.
“My mother has breast cancer, and she had a double mastectomy last summer,” Covington said. “This is a big thing for her and for everyone. It goes to the people who really need it, so it’s a privilege and an honor to do this.”
The KWLA Tournament winner was the boat “Bobojo.” The crew caught and released four blue marlins and one sailfish.
The Big Rock captains meeting is set for Sunday.
