Simone Biles: ‘Almost Dying Wasn’t on My Bingo Card’

Simone Biles says her week included something she says she didn’t have on her “bingo card”: nearly dying, NBC News reports. The 29-year-old gymnastics star revealed on Instagram Saturday that she went through a serious, undisclosed medical emergency, sharing photos of hospital-style wristbands and calling it “one of, if not the scariest experience” of her life.
Biles didn’t say what happened, promising, “I’ll explain sooner or later.” She thanked her inner circle for flowers, visits, and check-ins, and said she’s been resting in bed, posting a shot of her dogs curled up beside her and a heart-rate monitor screenshot. Her husband, Indianapolis Colts safety Jonathan Owens, was away at team activities at the time. The couple, who live in Texas, just celebrated six years together, three years married, last month, Sports Illustrated reports. Representatives for Biles have not publicly commented. As People reports, the gymnast had just posted a video of herself doing flips on her home trampoline just days before revealing the health scare.
