Jordan Brand Hooks Up Spike Lee With Custom Knicks-themed Air Jordan 3 for Finals Game Three

The New York Knicks’ most well-known fan is getting hooked up by Jordan Brand with a custom pair of kicks for the team’s first NBA Finals home game since 1999.
Spike Lee will wear a bespoke Air Jordan 3 Monday night featuring Knicks orange and blue and his own logo. The mismatched pair employs a blue leather base on the left shoe on orange on the right. From there, the mustache, heel stabilizer and tongue Jumpman logo all trade applications of blue and orange.
Both shoes then share the same orange elephant print paneling, outsole and lining, as well as Lee’s face logo near the lateral heel. Special lace dubraes also read “orange” and “blue” but with the text of each printed in the opposite color. A custom box dons elephant print and the Knicks logo.
In the lead up to this year’s Levi’s x Air Jordan 3 release, the director and longtime Jordan collaborator was chosen to debut multiple colorways of the shoe through public appearances, including a Knicks game, and went on to star in the campaign.
As a superfan for the New York Yankees, Lee might have made his greatest contribution to sportswear with his request for New Era to make him a red Yankees hat for the 1996 World Series. This was the first time a team hat had been made in colors of its own and opened the doors for the cornucopia of options that have now long since been on the market.
Lee’s custom Air Jordan 3s are unlikely to ever see any sort of release, however, there may remain hope that a stray sample winds up available for an exorbitant price.
