Latest on Tiger Woods’ Son Charlie Caddying for ‘Close Friend’ Miles Russell at US Open

As 17-year-old Miles Russell prepares to play in the 2026 U.S. Open, he hopes to have longtime friend Charlie Woods, son of Tiger Woods, caddying for him once again.

Russell told reporters on Monday after he won a qualifier to play in the U.S. Open it remains “to be determined” if Woods will be back as his caddy for the marquee tournament.

The Associated Press noted Woods and Russell are “close friends” and share the same commercial agent.

“We’ll see what he’s doing,” Russell said when asked if Woods would join him next week. “To be determined.”

Woods was on the bag for Russell at the U.S. Open qualifier event at BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens on Monday. Russell praised his longtime friend for making the event easier as it was going on.

“It kept it so light,” Russell said. “It’s the first time I’ve had a buddy on the bag. I really like it, not talking much golf, just having a good time.”

Woods and Russell are both set to start college in the fall at Florida State. Russell is currently the No. 1 ranked player in the country by the American Junior Golf Association.

Woods missed out on qualifying for the U.S. Open when he shot a 75 at an event last month.

The 2026 U.S. Open will be played from June 18-21 at Shinnecock Hills in New York.
