Victor Wembanyama could be suspended for an NBA Finals game soon

Victor Wembanyama was whistled for a flagrant-1 for hitting Karl-Anthony Towns in the face during the third quarter of Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals. The San Antonio Spurs were up 29 points at the time of the call after a dominant first half, but the franchise now has something else to be worried about: a possible Wembanyama suspension for flagrant foul accumulation.

Wembanyama’s flagrant against Towns in Game 4 means he now has three flagrant foul points in the playoffs. A player is suspended for a one game when they accumulate four flagrant points. That means Wemby’s next flagrant will earn him a suspension. He better be on his best behavior for the rest of the series.

Wembanyama was called for a flagrant-2 for hitting Naz Reid in the face during the Spurs’ second round series with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Here’s his flagrant-1 call on in Game 4 that moves him one more flagrant foul away from a suspension:

The NBA reviewed the Game 3 hit on Brunson and determined it shouldn’t be elevated to a flagrant. A lot of people were confused by that decision. It’s wild to think that Wembanyama would be suspended for Game 5 now if the hit on Brunson would be have been determined to be a flagrant.

Wembanyama needs to be careful. One more false move and he’s sitting out one of the most important games of his life.
