NFL Overreactions Week 4: Cowboys-Packers tie, Dart shines
USA TODAY Sports’ Lorenzo Reyes ‘overreacts’ to some of the best games from Sunday’s Week 4 slate.
Sports Seriously
For the second consecutive week, “Thursday Night Football” will feature a battle of NFC West teams that will briefly catapult one squad into first place.
The San Francisco 49ers (3-1) are traveling to southern California to take on the Los Angeles Rams (3-1) in a matchup between two playoff hopefuls.
The Rams enter Thursday’s game as significant favorites. Matthew Stafford has looked healthy through four weeks, despite dealing with a back injury, while Puka Nacua and Davante Adams have emerged as one of the NFL’s best receiver duos over their first month together.
Meanwhile, the 49ers haven’t had consistency on offense. Brock Purdy (toe) and George Kittle (hamstring) have missed time due to injuries while Jauan Jennings (ankle/ribs) and Ricky Pearsall (knee) are also banged up entering Week 5. Christian McCaffrey has enjoyed a renaissance after an injury-plagued 2024 season, but he will be among the last skill position weapons standing for San Francisco during Thursday’s contest.
Will San Francisco’s offense have enough talent available to challenge a young, improving Rams defense? Here’s what to know about the Rams vs. 49ers “Thursday Night Football” matchup for NFL Week 5.
