Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Portugal Home Is Reportedly Getting a Soho House-Inspired Makeover

Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s Portuguese retreat is reportedly getting a major design refresh. According to the Daily Mail, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have hired designers from Soho House to redesign their private home in Portugal, which they reportedly bought in 2023 for about £6.3 million. Although details about the house are still private, news of the renovation gives a rare look at the couple’s expanding real estate interests outside of California.

The property is believed to be located on Portugal’s coast, not far from where Prince Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie, and her family spend part of the year. Neither the Sussexes nor Soho House have publicly commented on the reported redesign.

Soho House has been part of Harry and Meghan’s story for years. The couple had one of their first dates at the members-only club’s 76 Dean Street location in London. Meghan has also worked with the company professionally. Earlier this year, her lifestyle brand, As Ever, teamed up with Soho House, which she called a “full circle moment.”

A Soho House-inspired look would likely be a change from the European château style of the Sussexes’ Montecito home. Soho House is known for blending vintage and modern furniture, using rich textures and materials, and creating spaces that feel comfortable and stylish, like a boutique hotel.

The reported renovation comes as Harry and Meghan continue to settle outside the UK In 2023, they officially left Frogmore Cottage, the Windsor home Queen Elizabeth II gave them after their wedding. It had been their main base in the UK before they stepped back from royal duties and moved to Los Angeles.

The Portugal home gives the Sussexes a private European getaway, making it easy for them to travel to both continental destinations and the UK.
