Road closures will hit parts of south Winnipeg this weekend as runners lace up for the Manitoba Marathon.
Chancellor Matheson Road will close between Research Way and University Crescent from 8 a.m. Saturday until 3 p.m. Sunday, the city said in a news release Friday.
Single lanes of traffic will be impacted on many roads from 2 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, the city says. Some of the major impacts include University Crescent, which will be closed between Chancellor Matheson Road and Pembina Highway, as well as restricted access to eastbound Jubilee Avenue from Pembina Highway.
Numerous partial closures will hit Wellington Crescent, as the marathon’s route will switch from Portage Avenue to that road this year.
Construction will also continue to impact traffic on Pembina Highway at Abinojii Mikanah, the city said.
Transit will be rerouted during the closures. Bus riders can also follow Winnipeg Transit’s service alerts online.
