Pro Golfer’s Ex: Mickelson Showed Me Nude Pic, Made a Pass

Phil Mickelson is facing a new, on-the-record allegation of sexual misconduct from the ex-wife of a fellow pro golfer. Ashley Perez, formerly married to Pat Perez, tells journalist Alan Shipnuck that during the 2015 Barclays tourney, Mickelson invited the couple to stay at his Liberty National villa in Jersey, then allegedly showed her a fully nude photo of himself and suggested she visit his bedroom after her husband fell asleep. She says she refused, kept quiet during the tournament, and told Pat afterward; he didn’t confront Mickelson directly. Ashley says Mickelson later apologized twice, including in a phone call she recorded and played for Shipnuck.
Her account comes as Shipnuck and others report a string of alleged inappropriate incidents involving Mickelson at multiple private clubs. Golfweek notes that this development comes two weeks after news broke that he’s no longer a member at the Farms Golf Club in California, over what one report described as “nonconsensual and inappropriate” conduct toward a staffer. Mickelson’s attorney, Tom Clare, said some claims are false and others involve past “mistakes” that Mickelson has already acknowledged, arguing that the reporting creates “a false and misleading narrative.” Ashley Perez says she went public to encourage other women to speak out about powerful men. Mickelson has largely been absent from competition this year, citing a family health issue, per CBS Sports.
