Travelers Championship: Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland go to Monday morning playoff after lightning delay

The 2026 Travelers Championship will extend into Monday morning, with Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland squaring off in Connecticut.
Scheffler forced a playoff by sinking a 9-foot putt to save par on 18 at TPC River Highlands, keeping both men at 21-under through 72 holes. The sudden-death playoff will begin at 9 a.m. ET, beginning on the par-4 18th hole and repeating as needed.
The playoff will be aired across Peacock, NBC Sports Network and Golf Channel.

Play was suspended at 5:57 p.m. due to lightning and didn’t resume until 7:20 p.m., at which point the final pairing of Scheffler and Hovland were only through 13 holes. Scheffler held the lead at 21-under then and had a two-stroke lead on Hovland, who birdied on 14 and 15 to draw even.
Both men had birdie putts on 18 to win the tournament outright, but Hovland left his just right while Scheffler missed his by enough to put the par in doubt.
This will be Scheffler’s second Travelers Championship playoff, having beat Tom Kim in a single hole for the title in 2024. He has a 2-2 record in playoffs overall, with his other win at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open. Hovland is 1-0 in PGA Tour playoffs, beating Denny McCarthy in the 2023 Memorial Tournament.
