Jaxon Smith-Njigba thinks Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith’s ceiling higher than his own

Jeremiah Smith is receiving praise from a former Ohio State wide receiver who thinks the prospect has a higher ceiling than himself in the NFL.
On “The Rich Eisen Show,” Seattle Seahawks receiver and Ohio State alum Jaxon Smith-Njigba discussed the outlook for Smith in the NFL, predicting he could surpass many of the Buckeyes wide receivers who have turned pro.

“I mean, I think his ceiling is farther than I would say a lot of us,” Smith-Njigba said. “I would say definitely myself.”
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba talks to Ohio State Buckeyes offensive coordinator Brian Hartline prior to the NCAA football game against the Washington Huskies at Husky Stadium in Seattle on Sept. 27, 2025.
Smith-Njgba was drafted by the Seahawks with the 20th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. While the two were never teammates, Smith-Njigba told Eisen that the sophomore receiver’s talent is “something I’ve never really seen before honestly on the field.”
“A person that can create and eat at all three levels, and just a competitor,” Smith-Njigba said, “The competitive spirit, you can just see it when he’s out there.”
Smith-Njigba is in his third NFL season and is second in the NFL in receiving yards in 2025. He is coming off a Pro Bowl appearance and a 1,000-yard season.
