WNBA Player Ejected After Throwing Shoe at Marina Mabrey on Video, Scuffle During Tempo-Liberty

Sunday’s matchup between the Toronto Tempo and New York Liberty got pretty chippy. So chippy, in fact, that a sneaker was thrown at Toronto’s Marina Mabrey.
Here’s how the situation played out throughout the game:
Betnijah Laney-Hamilton was ejected for the shoe toss.
Mabrey gave her reaction to the play after the game, noting she didn’t think it was intentional.
“I had to take a couple breaths,” Mabrey said, via ESPN’s Michael Voepel. “But I think she was really just trying to get the shoe back to JJ. But I’ll take the free throw.”
Crew chief Kevin Fahy explained the situation after the game:
The Tempo had the last laugh when everybody’s sneakers were returned to their feet, pulling out a tough 93-91 win that moved them to 10-13 on the season. New York fell to 13-11.
