Cyprus and Turkey have been included as the Foreign Office issued fresh travel advisories for countries across the Gulf region.
The updates came as the US launched a 12th consecutive night of attacks on Iran.
Both countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding last month to halt military operations and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, as well as to reach an agreement to end the war over the following 60 days.
But three weeks after it was signed, US president Donald Trump declared the ceasefire “over” after Iranian attacks on ships in Hormuz, and US strikes in response.
The new Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) notices provide “updated information about regional tensions following recent strike and retaliatory attacks by Iran”.
Countries covered by the renewed advisories also include Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Yemen, Oman, Israel, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq and Palestine but with the notable absence of the UAE.
The advice points out that the situation in the Middle East “remains unpredictable” and urges travellers sign up for FCDO travel advice email alerts, monitor media for the latest information, follow the instructions of local authorities and keep departure plans “under review” while ensuring travel documents are up to date.
The government also announced that UK staff have been temporarily withdrawn from Iran, with the British embassy operating remotely.
