Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony: Date, time, performers, location, how to watch live

Eleven days of sporting action comes to a close at the 2026 Commonwealth Games courtesy of the closing ceremony at the iconic Hydro arena in Glasgow on Sunday 2 August.

A celebration of athlete performances first and foremost, the event also serves as a thank you to the many volunteers and showcases the hosts for a final time featuring performances by community groups and cultural organisations. 

The ceremony will also see the official handover to the 24th edition of the Commonwealth Games, at Amdavad 2030.

“The Closing Ceremony is all about connection. It’s going to be emotional,” said Louisa Mahon, Chief Marketing and Ceremonies Officer at Glasgow 2026. 

“It’s the moment that we celebrate and say thank you to athletes from across the Commonwealth and to the people of Glasgow who got behind the Games. It’s a time for reflection, but it’s also a huge afters – a time to party, in a way that only Glasgow does.” 

As Scotland’s World Cup fans sang earlier this summer, “No Scotland, no party.”
