Romell Quioto opened the scoring just two minutes into the second half, following a scoreless first half. Alexy Vega then doubled the lead in the 91st minute to secure all three points at home.
Meanwhile, Costa Rica had two draws in its matches in September. The first was a 1-1 finish against Nicaragua at the Nicaragua National Football Stadium. Alexis Gamboa scored the team’s lone goal.
Then, los Ticos hosted Haiti in a thrilling 3-3 draw on Sept. 9 at the National Stadium of Costa Rica. Kenneth Vargas, Alonso Martínez, and Juan Pablo Vargas all found the back of the net in the tie.
