All Creatures Great and Small is back for a sixth season with Rachel Shenton playing Helen Herriot.
This season, she has been navigating life as a mother to two children and off-screen, she has recently become a mother herself.
She and her husband Chris Overton welcomed their son Orson in April 2025 and, whilst speaking to Alan Titchmarsh on his ITV series, she gave viewers a sweet update.
Alan congratulated her on the pregnancy and joked about whether she “got what she expected”.
“Yes, I got what I expected, a baby boy. Orson, he’s five months old, beautiful,” she smiled.

When asked about how she coped with filming All Creatures Great and Small whilst pregnant, she said it was a positive experience.
“Yeah, they were so generous,” she said. “I was filming pretty much right up until having him.
“And then I snuck back at the end with Orson to do the Christmas special, so I managed to do it before and after, which was lovely.”
The series is based on the best-selling books by vet Alf Wight and it was first adapted into a TV series in the 1970s.

On being involved in such an iconic series and facing pressure from long-standing fans, she said: “You don’t know how it’s going to be received.
“And shooting in Yorkshire, people got wind that we were filming All Creatures and we had the locals coming up to us saying ‘don’t mess it up’, not that politely.
“There were big wellie boots to fill, so it’s a relief as much as anything else that you have kind of done it justice.”
She went on to discuss how she and the rest of the cast had formed such a strong bond since filming the first season.
All Creatures Great and Small airs on Thursdays on Channel 5 at 9pm
