‘Stranger Things’ and new show ‘Boots’ are top shows this fall

Season 2 of CBS’s “Matlock” is back with the Emmy-nominated legal drama, bringing the legendary Kathy Bates back to screens.
The show features a “brilliant septuagenarian [Matlock] who achieved success in her younger years and rejoins the workforce at a prestigious law firm with a hidden agenda, using her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases,” according to Paramount’s description.
Season 1 of “Matlock” featured plenty of jaw-dropping twists and high-stakes situations, leaving viewers with more questions than answers about the Wellbrexa cover-up at the end of the first season.
The Season 2 premiere comes after actor David Del Rio was abruptly booted off the show following reports of alleged sexual assault. CBS confirmed the news of Del Rio’s departure with USA TODAY on Oct. 9, but declined to comment further on reports of the sexual misconduct reported by Deadline and Variety. The outlets reported a female co-star was involved.

What time does Season 2 of ‘Matlock’ premiere?
The new season of “Matlock” is set to premiere on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 8:30 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT. According to Paramount, new episodes of “Matlock” will release on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Where to watch the Season 2 premiere of ‘Matlock’
The Season 2 premiere of “Matlock” will be available on CBS on Sunday, Oct. 12, and will be available to stream on Paramount the day after, on Oct. 10.
Paramount+ offers two subscription plans:
- Paramount+ Essential is $7.99 per month and gives users access to thousands of episodes, movies, and live NFL on CBS (with limited ads).
- Paramount+ Premium is $12.99 per month and includes everything in the Essential plan plus Showtime originals, blockbuster movies, and live TV with fewer ads.
‘Matlock’ Season 2 cast
The new season of “Matlock” will bring back Emmy and Academy Award winner Kathy Bates as well as other recurring characters from Season 1.
Del Rio’s character, Billy Martinez, will be written out of the series for future episodes, a source told USA TODAY, but the first half of the season has already been filmed and is set to premiere on Oct. 12. Production for the second half will begin after a pre-planned hiatus in October and November, unrelated to Del Rio’s exit.
