Alan Carr has already established himself as a standout star in the BBC’s inaugural series of The Celebrity Traitors.

The comic and television favourite is amongst the celebrities participating in Claudia Winkleman’s murder mystery game show, joined by the likes of Jonathan Ross, Charlotte Church, Cat Burns, Kate Garraway, Stephen Fry and Joe Wilkinson.

Thus far, Alan – selected alongside Jonathan and Cat as one of the Traitors – has justified every penny of his reported £40,000 payment, providing viral-worthy scenes beneath his Traitors hood.

Within moments, he appeared ready to buckle, chuckling straight after Claudia grilled him about being a Traitor and nearly falling apart before eliminating his dear friend Paloma Faith in the ultimate act of treachery.

At one stage, Alan even declared he would be “worse than Linda”, who infamously exposed her real identity with just one glance when Claudia confronted the series three traitors at the round table, reports the Daily Record.

Following his scene-stealing performance, viewers have been frantically pleading for his comedy programme Chatty Man to make a comeback.

The Bafta-winning show ran from 2009 for 16 series until 2016, and saw various celebrity guests and sketches. But why did it come to an end?

Why was Alan Carr’s Chatty Man cancelled?

At the time of its cancellation, it was reported that Alan’s show failed to attract viewers while pitted against Graham Norton and Jonathan Ross.

He told The Sun: “I just think that the art of the chat show has evolved unless you can get the amazing guests all the time that Norton gets.

“Three guests a week and Channel 4, God love ’em, extended it to 30 episodes -that’s 90 guests who are relevant and people are interested in, up against the amazing Norton and Jonathan Ross.”

Alan also said that scheduling the show on Thursday nights was “not the best move”, saying it “feels like a party show” for Fridays, but insisted he was proud of what he’d achieved.

“I’ve gone as far as I can with Chatty Man. Won a Bafta, won two NTAs,” he said.

Now, fans are begging for the return of Chatty Man after watching Alan’s antics on The Celebrity Traitors.

One wrote on X: “Just bring back Chatty Man once and for all. Alan Carr is just hysterical and pretty much close to a national treasure.”

Another said: “I wish they brought back Chatty Man. Alan Carr is too good to be sitting in the sidelines.”

Someone else wrote: “Obsessed with Alan being a traitor. He’s hilarious please bring back Chatty Man was a great show!”

Ahead of taking part in The Celebrity Traitors, Alan confessed viewers would see a different side to him.

He revealed: “There will be a different side to me. I’ll have to adapt; no comedy, it’s one of those shows where you have to shape shift. You have to chat to people you wouldn’t normally chat with just to see if they are hiding anything

“I don’t think it’s a case of how good you are at being a Traitor or a Faithful. It’s how you adapt and how you draw on your social skills.

“I’ve worked in a call centre where I had to deal with one thing after another, so I think my call centre skills are going to come in handy!”

The Celebrity Traitors continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
