‘Bringing Up Bates’ Star Erin Bates Gives Health Update & Reveals if She’ll Have More Children After Suffering Near-Fatal Postpartum Septic Shock – The Ashley’s Reality Roundup

Erin Bates Paine wants fans to know she’s continuing to heal.
The Bringing Up Bates star took to the Instagram account she shares with husband Chad Paine to give an update on her recovery from sepsis and leg paralysis following the birth last month of her seventh child, Henry, while promoting the fourth anniversary of the couple’s business, Chad + Erin Co, yesterday. She also revealed whether or not she and Chad will continue to have more babies, despite Erin nearly dying last month from her postpartum health issues.
“We’re so thankful for every prayer, every order, and every message of encouragement,” the post read.
Down in the comment section of the post, fans asked how Erin’s recovery was going.
“How is her leg doing?” one person asked, to which Erin responded, “Thank you so much for asking… I can walk! And I’m so thankful for that! I have a limp but am praying it will just take time to be 100%! Physical Therapy has helped so much!”
Several fans also asked if Erin and Chad were planning to have more children after Henry’s traumatic birth. As The Ashley previously reported, Erin suffered three miscarriages prior to welcoming her first child, which she’s said were likely due to a blood clotting disorder she has. After welcoming their fourth child, Holland, in 2019, Erin and Chad told People that after consulting with their doctor, they realized “having another baby was not going to be in our future.”
In 2021, Erin underwent multiple surgeries due to ruptured cysts, resulting in her having one of her ovaries fully removed and the other partially removed. Despite this, Erin went on to have three more children in four years, welcoming daughter Finley in January 2022, son William (who was born prematurely) in October 2023, and Henry last month.
“Would you like to have more children or did this experience put you off?” a fan asked to which Erin replied, “we love children so much, but Henry will be our last.”
In addition to Holland, Finley, William and Henry, Erin and Chad also share son Carson and daughters Brooklyn and Everly.
Since Erin and Henry came home from the hospital a few weeks ago, the Paines have shared special moments with their seven children on social media. Earlier this week, the family got into the holiday spirit a few weeks early, as Erin and Chad posted on Instagram.
“After all we’ve walked through, our home needed a little Christmas joy,” the post read. “The glow of the tree, the sound of the train, the reminder that light still shines in the darkness. Grateful for peace, for healing, and for the One who brings both.”
The family of nine also had new portraits taken.
“Today we are standing (literally!) in awe, giving thanks for every single step forward,” Erin wrote. “Special thanks to my dear friend @tarynyager for flying to Florida today to make my dreams come true! I love you and can’t wait to share more!”
