What questions do you have about tackling violent crime in Canada?

This week, the Liberals announced new legislation targeting bail and sentencing changes, with the hopes of making bail more difficult for violent, repeat offenders. Politicians and police associations have been pushing for changes, but some critics have wondered how effective these changes will be at tackling violent crime. So how does the system work, and what changes are needed to make communities safer?

Danardo Jones is a former criminal lawyer and Associate Professor of Law at the University of Windsor. He’s also the former Director of Legal Services at the African Canadian Legal Clinic. Nicole Myers is an Associate Professor of Criminology at Queen’s University. They’ll answer your questions! 

We’ll also hear from Brandon, Manitoba mayor Jeff Fawcett on the push for bail reform.
