7 Years Later, Jack Black’s Comedy Horror With 48% RT Score Got Resurrected on Streaming

2025 was a huge year for Jack Black, thanks to A Minecraft Movie, but the actor continues to be popular with other projects. An underrated Goosebumps film is climbing the streaming charts seven years after its run at the box office.

Per Flix Patrol, 2018’s Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween has officially found a new home for itself on the Netflix charts just in time for Halloween. Currently, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween sits at the number four spot on the list of the top ten films currently streaming on Netflix in the United States. The comedy horror dropped on the Netflix charts on Oct. 28 in eight place, and spent the following two days in fourth place.

The follow-up to 2015’s Goosebumps, starring Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Ryan Lee, and Jack Black, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween brought the latter back for a handful of minor appearances set against the backdrop of a brand-new supernatural adventure with a brand-new cast of teenage heroes. Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween stars Madison Iseman as Sarah Quinn who, along with her brother Sonny, portrayed by Jeremy Ray Taylor, unwittingly unleashes the monsters and ghouls from the legendary R.L. Stine’s personal manuscript. Among the most prominent of these threats is none other than Slappy, the evil ventriloquist doll made famous in Goosebumps‘ iconic Night of the Living Dummy series.

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween arrived in theaters on Oct. 12, 2018, to a middling-to-negative response from critics and audiences alike. Ghostbusters 2: Haunted Halloween holds a mere 48% “Fresh” rating via review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as averaged across nearly 100 verified critical reviews of the film. Despite this, and the film’s even lower audience-generated “Popcornmeter” score of only 37%, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween still managed to be a financial success, bringing in more than $93 million at the box office against a $35 million production budget.

Another R.L. Stine Series Is Getting Its Own Live-Action Adaptation

In early October, it was confirmed that Canadian studio Limestone Animation would be taking on an adaptation of R.L. Stine’s Stinetinglers as their first major project. The series will introduce the town of Blooming Hills, where all the seemingly idyllic aspects of everyday life are undercut by a myriad of horrors waiting in the shadows.

Stine himself said of the upcoming Stinetinglers animated series, “These spooky stories will be brought to life in a way unlike any of my work before. But more than that, I was blown away by the unique spin the team at Limestone Animation proposed, and I immediately knew they were the right partners to bring to screen my newest stories. My lips are sealed, but I can’t wait for the world to see what they have in store!” The new series comes after Disney+’s Goosebumps was canceled after two seasons.
