Blue Jackets trade Yegor Chinakhov to Penguins for draft picks

Chinakov has been on the trade block since the off-season after requesting a trade back in July in a statement made by his agent Shumi Babaev.
“I had some misunderstandings with the coach (Dean Evason) during the season. Now I would be glad to have a trade. I would like to move to a different location,” Chinakhov said in his statement. “Will I return to Russia? As long as I can play in the NHL, I will keep developing here.”
The 24-year-old has three goals and three assists in 29 games this season.
In 204 career games, Chinakhov has 37 goals and 77 points after being selected in the first round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
This is the second deal the Blue Jackets have made involving a forward after acquiring Mason Marchment on Dec. 20 for a 2027 second-round draft pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick, which the Blue Jackets previously acquired from the New York Rangers.
