What will Rush’s tour be like without Neil Peart?

It’s official: Rush is back. The Canadian rock band’s surviving members will embark on a 50th anniversary tour in 2026.

These will be the band’s first shows since the 2020 passing of their long-time drummer, Neil Peart. Though many can’t imagine Rush without their legendary drummer, band members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson have chosen to bring German drummer, Anika Nilles, with them on tour.

Today on Commotion, host Elamin Abdelmahmoud speaks with music journalist Annie Zaleski about Rush’s surprise return to the stage and what it means for them to have a female drummer.
