After coming 17th in the Premier League last season, being sixth in the table and unbeaten in the Champions League would seemingly be good progress.
But, as Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte and Ange Postecoglou found out and as Thomas Frank is discovering, Spurs fans not only want their team to win, but to do so in style.
Frank’s reign got off to a bright start after he replaced Postecoglou in the summer. Spurs gave European champions Paris St-Germain a huge fright and led 2-0 in the Uefa Super Cup with five minutes to go before losing on penalties and followed that with stylish wins over Burnley and then away at Manchester City.
But since then, the progress has somewhat stalled. They have only picked up one point in their past three home Premier League games and a dismal showing in the 1-0 home loss to Chelsea on Saturday saw the team booed off, with booing also at various points in the second half.
Can Frank lead his side to cheers tonight, with Copenhagen the visitors to north London?
