Even after the worst loss of his second coaching stint at Rutgers, Greg Schiano stopped short of apologizing to the fans who had to sit through it. His team had just given up 750 yards — seven hundred and fifty!! — on Homecoming to Oregon, with chants of “Let’s Go Ducks” reverberating through SHI Stadium as early as the second quarter.
It was an act of mercy, or maybe dumb luck, that the final score of 56-10 did not reflect the level of utter ass-whoopery that took place in Piscataway on Saturday night. But, alas, offering up a mea culpa to the paying customers was a bridge too far for the head coach.
