Hurricanes vs. Canadiens Goal Scorers, Highlights and Recap from NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Game 1

The Montreal Canadiens have the early edge in the Eastern Conference Finals after taking Game 1 against the Carolina Hurricanes 6-2 on the road on Thursday.

The Canadiens came out of the gate hot with four first-period goals.

The Hurricanes struck first as Seth Jarvis found the net early, but Cole Caufield matched that goal within seconds off an assist from Juraj Slafkovský and Nick Suzuki.

The Canadiens then tacked on three more goals from Phillip Danault, Alexandre Texier and Ivan Demidov to take a commanding 4-1 lead.

Montreal looked as if it was going to add another early in the second period, but Caufield’s shot went off the post and the Hurricanes’ Eric Robinson scored on the other end to cut the lead to two.

Both offenses went quiet for a bit before Slafkovský scored off an assist from Caufield and Kaiden Guhle to make it a 5-2 lead for the Habs in the third period.

Slafkovský added another late in the third to put things out of reach.

Jakub Dobes was in goal for Montreal and put together a solid performance with a .923 save percentage, saving 24 attempts.

The Canadiens will look to keep their offense hot in Game 2 on Saturday.
