Dan Campbell on Lions’ win over Commanders: ‘That’s more like us’

Lions head coach Dan Campbell was fired up at Northwest Stadium after Detroit’s decisive 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday afternoon.
With a towel draped around this neck and his voice shredded from calling plays during the Sunday afternoon game, Campbell kept his speech in the visiting team’s locker room short, but sweet, passionate and prophetic.
“That’s a way to go,” Campbell said. “We don’t listen to what anybody else says about what we are and what we aren’t. We know what we are. We always bounce back. … It’s about gettin’ better every week.
“There’s things we gotta clean up. I got it. But, man, that’s more like us. That’s a lot more like us.”
“I am proud of you guys though,” Campbell goes on to say. “I didn’t expect anything different. I really didn’t.”
The lone game ball went to quarterback Jared Goff.
“Let’s get everything packed up,” Campbell said, wrapping up the speech. “Get the hell outta here, alright? Get home.
“Great job. Six wins.”
Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who did the viral President Donald Trump dance when he scored a touchdown during the game, led the team in the huddle after Campbell’s speech.
Trump made an appearance at the game and became the first sitting president to attend an NFL regular-season game since 1978. He also spent a few minutes of the third quarter being interviewed by the Fox broadcast team of Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma.
The Lions next take on the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia in primetime at 8:20 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16. It will air on NBC.
