Kalen DeBoer’s halftime message clear to Crimson Tide

Kalen DeBoer’s halftime message was pretty short and concise.

“Take care of the ball and snap the ball on a field goal,” the Alabama coach told the Crimson Tide Sports Network after the No. 4 Crimson Tide missed a first half-ending field goal to trail No. 11 Oklahoma 17-14.

Alabama rolled up 274 yards of total offense in the first half, but the Sooners turned two Tide turnovers into 14 first-half points.

“We can move the ball on these guys,” DeBoer said. “We can get stops. The takeaways they got on us were a killer. We just have to go out and keep playing. We knew that. We knew this would be a four-quarter game.”

DeBoer wasn’t the only frustrated coach.

Leaky in our coverage there,” Oklahoma’s Brent Venables said about his defense. “We have to tighten things up. We had an adjustment issue two plays prior to that. We have to clean that up. Fortunately, they missed a field goal there. Guy’s been a little inconsistent from the 30 yard line out.”

The Tide drive 69 yards on 13 plays to put itself in position for a 36-yard field goal, but Talty’s field-goal attempt was partially blocked by Taylor Wein.
