Large police presence was at East Street building

Among the officers on site, there were members of the emergency services unit and a drone was also used

3 p.m. Update:

Most Sault Police units have left the scene at 70 East St.

One man was seen put into a police cruiser in handcuffs and driven away.

The Sault Police drone was among the police resources used as the building was surrounded. Officers with the Emergency Services Unit were also on scene.

Traffic was slowed at the nearby intersection of East Street and Bay Street because of people slowing down to watch, combined with the traffic signal having earlier been converted to a flashing four-way red light due to construction.

More to come as information becomes available.
