MomTok members react to Whitney Leavitt elimination

The dance competition’s finale will be held next week.

In this week’s episode of “Dancing With the Stars” one of Utah’s own has been eliminated — and the internet is not happy.

Whitney Leavitt, an influencer who rose to popularity on TikTok and through Hulu’s “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” and her dance partner, Mark Ballas, received the least amount of fan votes on Tuesday night’s episode.

Her exit came a week ahead of the dance competition’s finale. She spent this season consistently rated at or near the top of the leaderboard by the show’s judges.

Leavitt’s MomTok friends Mikayla Matthews and Layla Taylor — along with hundreds of other fans — expressed disbelief regarding the decision.

“What the actual hell,” Taylor wrote in the Instagram comments of a post from the official “Dancing With the Stars” account.

“HUH,” Matthews added.

On her Instagram story, Matthews wrote a tribute to Leavitt. “Feeling all the feelings tonight. Just want to say I’m soo proud of the hard work and dedication I’ve seen you put into this experience … I’m grateful for you and our friendship.”

Taylor wrote on her story that she is “truly devastated for our Whit.”

Other MomTok members shared comments of support, too.

Miranda McWhorter shared one-word alongside a photo of Leavitt and Ballas: “robbed.” For her part, Jessi Ngatikaura said the dancing couple “should have made it to the finale.”

Demi Engemann also shared a photo with Leavitt with a message saying, “You’re a winner in my eyes.” Mayci Neeley hasn’t posted about the elimination but encouraged fans to vote for Leavitt and Ballas.

Jen Affleck, who was also on “Dancing With the Stars” this season but was ousted weeks ago, hasn’t posted anything. Taylor Frankie Paul, who is in the middle of filming “The Bachelorette,” also has not weighed in.

In Season 3 of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” which was released on Hulu last week, Leavitt said she returned to the show after time away from the influencer group to get a shot at auditioning for “Dancing With the Stars.”

Her comments drew a question from the dance competition’s co-host, Julianne Hough, who referred to the moment as “the elephant in the room.”

“You know what,” Leavitt said, “after two seasons of doing ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,’ I wanted to take a break, but once I found out that this would be an opportunity for all of the girls to be able to go after this, I wanted to take that chance.”
