HBO Has Had “Conversations” About Rescuing ‘Poker Face’

Poker Face is heading into a new iteration after Peacock decided not to renew the show for a third season and Natasha Lyonne exiting as the lead.
Deadline broke the news last week that Peter Dinklage has been lined up to take over the lead role with series creator Rian Johnson, his T-Street banner and MRC wanting to continue elsewhere.
That elsewhere may well be at HBO. Speaking at a press presentation in New York, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content, revealed that he has held conversations about bringing it over.
“It’s funny because we heard the original take, and when I heard that Peacock wasn’t moving forward, we were curious. We’ve had conversations, but I don’t know which way it’ll go, but I think Rian is a fantastic filmmaker, and I love the idea of Peter Dinklage, but I have nothing to report on that,” he said.

Poker Face, which premiered on Peacock in January 2023 with its second season launching in May 2025, follows Lyonne as Charlie Cale, a woman who has a gift for calling out “b*llshit”.
The former casino employer went on the run from a casino boss, traveling across the U.S. in her 1969 Plymouth Barracuda and putting her superpower to use solving homicides everywhere she stops.
However, Peacock did not renew it and Johnson and Lyonne have made a plan for Dinklage to replace Lyonne as the main sleuth.

The series is produced by Johnson’s T-Street Productions and MRC Television with Lyonne’s Animal Pictures. Johnson, Lyonne, Ram Bergman exec produce alongside Tony Tost, Nena Rodrigue, Adam Arkin, Nora Zuckerman, Lilla Zuckerman and Iain MacDonald.
“We’ve been germinating this next move together since writing the season two finale. We love our Poker Face and this is the perfect way to keep it rolling. Give us a beat and we may just see Charlie Cale again down that open highway,” Johnson and Lyonne told Deadline.
