Lightning acquire D Ethan Samson from Flyers for D Roman Schmidt

The Tampa Bay Lightning are bringing in some blue-line depth after a couple of injuries to their corps.
Samson, 22, has spent most of the season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate. In 10 games, the Delta, B.C., native has four assists and carries an even plus-minus.
The six-foot-three d-man has played in 142 AHL games with the Phantoms, tallying 15 goals and 40 assists. He was selected by the Flyers 174th overall in the sixth round of the 2021 draft.
Schmidt, meanwhile, has suited up in 13 AHL games with the Syracuse Crunch, with one assist and a minus-2 rating. He has three goals and four assists in 63 games with the Lightning’s affiliate.
The Midland, Mich., native was selected by the Lightning 96th overall in the third round of the 2021 draft.
Tampa is currently dealing with injuries to Ryan McDonagh (undisclosed) and Erik Cernak (undisclosed).
