Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan reveals newborn grandchild had ‘trouble breathing’ in health update

ITV star and musician Coleen is now a grandparent to four young grandchildren
Coleen Nolan returned to Loose Women
Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan has revealed that her newborn grandchild had ‘trouble breathing’ after her daughter gave birth as she provided a health update.
The popular panellist on the ITV daytime show returned to the programme on Tuesday (November 25), taking a break from work. Upon her return, Coleen was joined by her colleagues Ruth Langsford, Janet Street-Porter and Mariella Frostrup.
It was a busy afternoon for the Loose Women, with Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank making an appearance. Known for his work as vicar Billy Mayhew, who he has played since 2024, Daniel provided an insight into his filming his final scenes on the cobbles.
Prior to talking about the big news stories and hot topics of the day, Coleen spoke about her joy at becoming a grandmother again after her daughter Ciara gave birth to baby boy Sidney Ray.
Sidney Ray’s arrival, which Coleen announced on Halloween, came just days before her son Jake Cruz-Carter and his partner announced their son Cruz-Carter’s birth.
Coleen now has four grandchildren in total, with Shane Jr’s daughter, Amelia born in 2016 and Jake Nolan becoming a parent for the first time to a baby boy last year.
Speaking about baby Sidney Ray, Coleen revealed that she was feeling ‘frantic’ after receiving a worrying text from Ciara about her grandson.

Ruth said at the beginning of the episode: “A big welcome back to Coleen or should I say nanny Coleen.” Coleen replied: “Honestly, I’ve come back to work for a rest. I’ve had two of them in two weeks. Sidney Ray, that is Ciara’s little boy, we had him first and he was 9lb10.
“It was all lovely and initially I was going to be there. Ciara has a C-Section because he was so big.”
Coleen continued: “She (Ciara) phoned me and she said, we are going down now and I was like ‘ok, ok’ and I said to Max (Ciara partner) ‘don’t forget to text.
“And then I got a text in less than an hour saying ‘Sidney is here, he’s 9lbs10 but he is just having a bit of trouble breathing’”
Saying that she ‘didn’t hear anything for like half an hour’, Coleen was unsure about what to do as she ‘didn’t want to bother’ Ciara while she was still in hospital.
“Then she told me that he was absolutely fine. He just needed help breathing, so it all went from being ahh to ooh.
“I couldn’t be there but anyway he is absolutely fine. He spent a couple days on the ward but it is quite common with big babies.
“Ciara and Max stayed with him the whole week and the staff, can I just give a big shoutout to the staff because they were incredible,” she noted.
Coleen added: “I was there the first week driving in and out and it’s half hour from my house so by the end of the week I was like that.”
