OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Monday morning is a First Alert 6 Weather Day as widespread snow showers may impact the morning commute.

Light snow showers will begin overnight starting out as isolated then becoming widespread by Monday morning. The heavier snow is still looking to be south of I-80, but scattered light snow is likely in the metro through the commute. While overall amounts are light, the timing could create issues as kids head back to school and the commute gets underway after the Thanksgiving holiday.

To the S the snow lingers a bit later and will be heavier. It will wrap up by the early afternoon hours. The evening commute should not be impacted.

The Metro could see an inch of snow, totals will generally be lighter as you head N from there… while counties south of I-80 could see an additional 1-3″.

The National Weather Service did issue a Winter Weather Advisory for several counties south of I-80 until 6 PM Monday night due to the winter weather impacts.

Travel is likely to be impacted so give yourself extra time and slow down!
Beyond this we’ll look out for temperature fluctuations for the week ahead and a small amount of moisture coming with each one… Wednesday brings a risk for flurries as a round of cold targets the area for Thursday… lows dip below zero Thursday AM with a high of only 18 expected.
Temperatures rebound above freezing for the start of the weekend with another round of cold here by Sunday… Plan for a slight chance for mixed showers Saturday as the cold arrives. Right now additional snow potential looks low impact after Monday.
