Golden Globes 2026: Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo nominated for Wicked

Wicked: For Good gets biggest snub of the daypublished at 13:53 GMT

Wicked: For Good missing out on a nomination for best musical or comedy film is perhaps the biggest shock of the day.
After all, it’s been a huge box office success, and its predecessor Wicked was a winner at last year’s Globes.
However, the sequel has been met with far less enthusiasm than the first film.
That’s partly due to the source material – the second half of the stage musical is widely regarded as being weaker than the first.
There are a few reasons for that – the musical’s best known hits all feature in the first act, and therefore were in the first film, but it’s also gloomier and darker, and arguably drags more.
This does not bode well for its Oscar chances, but at least its stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were recognised in the acting categories.
