Hardik Pandya and Jitesh Sharma smash massive sixes off Lutho Sipamla’s bowling in massive 18-run over during IND vs SA 2025 1st T20I [Watch]

Team India’s finishing duo of Hardik Pandya and Jitesh Sharma smashed three boundaries in the penultimate over bowled by Lutho Sipamla in the first T20I against South Africa at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Tuesday, December 9. The over yielded 18 runs to help the hosts inch towards the 170-run mark after a turbulent start upon being put into bat first.

Lutho Sipamla, who had a solid outing with the ball with two wickets in his first three overs, was up against a red-hot and rampant Hardik Pandya during the death overs. The all-rounder smashed a mighty six over long-off in the second delivery of the over as he was comfortably able to get underneath the full-pitched ball.

Pandya followed it up with a four off the next delivery by smashing the ball over the bowler’s head, and put some serious pressure on him. Jitesh Sharma concluded the over with a brilliant six over square leg to get his innings underway ahead of the final over. Have a look at the series of boundaries right here:

Team India raced to 163-6 after 19 overs courtesy of their boundaries off Sipamla’s bowling. They had another decent over against Anrich Nortje after scoring 12 runs and finishing with 175 on the board.

The Men in Blue have made the most of the momentum they generated in the back end of the first innings to be a handful with the ball as well. Arshdeep Singh struck in each of his first two overs to dismiss Quinton de Kock and Tristan Stubbs and leave the Proteas reeling at 18-2 after three overs.

At the time of writing, Aiden Markram and Dewald Brevis are fending off Jasprit Bumrah in the second half of the powerplay. South Africa still need 158 runs off 102 deliveries, with the likes of Tristan Stubbs and David Miller to come in to bat next.
