With a new challenge, Angelique Boyer returns to the screen; this time the actress is the star of “Doménica Montero”, a story that has been produced in Mexico since 1978, the first with the same title and others with different names such as “La dueña” and “Soy tu dueña.”
On this occasion she has the opportunity to leave her own mark on a character who has been masterfully interpreted by other actresses.
The telenovela tells the story of a respected and renowned businesswoman and philanthropist, considered one of the country’s most sought-after brides, and who on her wedding day is stood up at the altar. Humiliated, betrayed and turned into the focus of social gossip, she decides to flee and take refuge in an old estate owned by her parents.
There, marked by pain, she will face new adversities and meet “Luis Fernando,” played by Marcus Ornellas, owner of the neighboring hacienda. Between them an explosive relationship arises, marked by pride, misunderstandings and a growing attraction, where land disputes mix with the shared desire to rebuild, heal and give a new meaning to their lives.
“There is always a process, and what she goes through I think is a great lesson for both men and women, but especially, well, to show all women to be a little like ‘Doménica,’ if they ever experience something like this.”
Although it is a character of an empowered woman, for Angelique it is also important that men receive the attention they deserve.
“I think today there is also a commitment in male characters. We cannot do nothing but empower women. We are in times when we must also empower men and we must keep the balance very fair so that we become mirrors, be friends and there exists love among humanity and not inequality and differences, which is history and we should have learned by now,” she shared.
Another of the themes that matters to the actress is being able to showcase the beauty of Mexico in her projects; on this occasion she assures that viewers will see unique images of this country.

Around the culture, around those landscapes, we feel very blessed and we make the most of it both at production level, from the set design, from the costumes, from the characteristics we give to the characters in the way they speak, in the way they say certain expressions.
She shares that it is a way to bring people closer to their places of origin and to bring them a piece of what they left behind to emigrate far from their homeland.
“We are very proud to be able to tell a story that carries all these colors, because many times they stay in the city and the city does not have as much folklore as what we can show in the countryside, in those cornfields, sugarcane fields and coffee plantations. You will see spectacular images and, moreover, telling a story that, while a classic, is completely current.”
“Doménica Montero” premieres on December 8 on Univision at 8:00 p.m., Central Time, and on December 9 on the ViX platform.
