A ticket worth $1 million was sold in New Jersey for Wednesday’s massive Powerball lottery drawing.
The winner bought the second-prize ticket at Krauszer’s Food & Liquor on Broad Street in Bloomfield, Essex County, lottery officials said.
The ticket matched all five of the first batch of numbers, but not the Powerball number.
There was also a $50,000, third-prize ticket bought in New Jersey. That winner purchased the ticket at Main Street Food and Liquors on Main Street in South Bound Brook, Somerset County.
It matched four numbers plus the Powerball.
Wednesday’s winning numbers were: 10, 16, 29, 33 and 69. The Powerball drawn was 22 with a Power Play of 3X.
Two other $1 million tickets were also sold — one in Maryland and one in Michigan.
The jackpot for the next drawing on Saturday has climbed to an estimated $1 billion with a cash option of $461.3 million.
There have been 41 drawings held since the last jackpot win. The Powerball jackpot was last won on Sept. 6 when ticket holders in Missouri and Texas split a $1.787 billion prize.
The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 1 in more than 292 million. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers (but not the Powerball) and win a second prize of at least $1 million.
Powerball drawings are held each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
