Fackham Hall review: Jimmy Carr’s Downton Abbey spoof is about as funny as a parking ticket

With the exception of Anna Maxwell Martin, who puts in a heroic shift as a stern Scots housekeeper, the cast seem to have been chosen for their lack of comic pedigree. But that’s in keeping with Fackham Hall’s complete absence of funny bones: it doesn’t look funny, isn’t cut funny, and doesn’t even sound funny, despite frequent deployment of Something Hilarious Is Happening background music.

Usually, a spoof franchise would only feel this exhausted by the second or third sequel, so I suppose Fackham Hall deserves points for efficiency at least.

In cinemas from December 12
