Actor Amy Schumer announces split from husband Chris Fischer

Comedian and actress Amy Schumer has announced that she and her husband, chef Chris Fischer, are getting a divorce after seven years of marriage.

The Trainwreck star said in a social media post on Friday, alongside a photo of the two of them on the subway, that they had made the “difficult decision” to split and will continue to focus on raising their son, who is six.

“Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever,” she said.

Schumer, 44, and Fischer, 45, have been married since February 2018 and welcomed their son the following year.

Schumer also joked in the Instagram post that the split is not “because I dropped some lbs” and not because Fischer is an “award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail”.

Fischer won the James Beard award in the American Cooking category for his 2015 Beetlebung Farm Cookbook: A Year of Cooking on Martha’s Vineyard.

The couple appeared together on the Food Network reality show Amy Schumer Learns to Cook, which aired during the Covid pandemic.

They also shared the screen during a documentary series Expecting Amy that followed Schumer, who has been open about having endometriosis, during her difficult pregnancy.

Schumer has starred in the sketch show Inside Amy Schumer, the 2015 film Trainwreck and 2018’s I Feel Pretty.

She also wrote, directed and starred in the sitcom Life & Beth.

Several famous friends of Schumer’s showed their support in comments on Instagram.

Actress Sophia Bush said that a divorce ” is so damn hard without having it be hard for the world to see… so when the world sees I’ll just say be extra gentle with yourself”.

Meanwhile personality Gayle King wrote: “Amy been there never easy. Only YOU could make THIS announcement w/humor & love”.
